Air Canada Vacations Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Air Canada is the flag carrier and the largest airline of Canada by fleet size and passengers carried. The airline, founded in 1937, provides scheduled and charter air transport for passengers and cargo to 207 destinations worldwide. It is a founding member of the Star Alliance. Air Canada's corporate headquarters are in Montreal, Quebec, while its largest hub is at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The airline's regional service is Air Canada Express.

A sad customer who is always one board at least once in every month for one year shared her grievances about the airline with the world, she wrote" I do not recommend this airline if you are looking for comfort. Although the flight attendants were nice, it didn’t make up for the way they squish you in like sardines. It goes to show the greediness of the airline. Cram more people into less room to make more money. Frustrating experience."

"- micromanagement. - the lowest possible salary of all time. - not much to learn - company town hall meetings and all you hear is how wonderful things are. - two weeks vacations upon approval.. you can take unpaid if your manager approves. - 6-month probation."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Pay is less and even the annual increment is too low."

Former Employee - AREA SALES MANAGER says

"Little training and development. No bonus structure. No guidance. Cut throat"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"SALARY! They like the profit employees bring in with hard work but when it comes to bonus or salary increase, employees get crumbs. NO ADVANCEMENT! They keep bringing in people from outside instead of promoting internally. You get stuck where you are. ONLY 2 WEEKS VACATION and if you want more it will come out of your paycheck WITH interest. Ironic considering they claim to be in the travel industry."

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"- Very low salary, the company makes no effort to invest in their employees' well-being. If they do, there will be a cost to it. Only 2 weeks of vacation but you will never have the choice to take your days off when you want to. - A lot of micro-managing managers, not team-oriented at all - there's a lot of pointing fingers, passive aggressive exchanges - All the work is thrown at you with unrealistic expectations when no adequate training is given - Do not invest in their employees. They will listen to you but no action is done when giving feedback - a lot of politics - Outdated technology, which makes working there efficiently very difficult and painful (the website is ancient). Not investing in proper resources to meet the business objectives they set - Very high turnaround but at the same a lot of people have been there for decades so there's a big imbalance in work styles and mentalities - No room for growth - Avoid at all cost, you will waste your time there"

"Managers are on a power trip Very low pay, not competitive at all Tension between managers and lots of things are said behind people's back No vision, only pressure to sell more crappy products Stressful environment... high turnaround and colleagues at the edge of burn out"

Former Employee - Customer Service Representative says

"working every weekend and our days off were not consecutive most of the time"

Former Employee - Customer Service Representative says

"Lack of communication, below average salary, upper management does not care about their employees"

Former Employee - Accounting says

"there's a lot of Favouritism in the management Hard to move around within organization for Qualified / educated Employees as Management / HR favouritise certain people Salary is very Low Micro management and employees cannot bring in their own ideas to improve their day to day work."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Senior Management Management Salary HR department Little to no advancement Company is full of politics. If you don't know how to please upper management or you do not have someone backing you then forget about advancement. Culture is a joke and place is ran by old fashioned leaders. For a company that's supposedly worth a billion dollars, they pay peanuts for call center agent posistions. Others have been there for ages and salary is a joke compared to other companies. They use their travel privilieges as a leverage to pay potential employees low salaries. Medical and Dental benefits are mediocre."

Employee (Current Employee) says

"Horrible and stressful work environment. I burnt out and no one cared. Unrealistic expectations . No work/life balance . My manager was fake . Do not be fooled by the perks !"

Agent (Former Employee) says

"Company does not put employee first. They don’t take care of employees it’s all about themselves. Short staffed, work overload, stress, micro management and favoritism. Also pay is waaay below average. Stay away unless you are desperate."

Reservation Agent (Former Employee) says

"Formation non suffisante, beaucoup de pression des superviseurs, embauche continue des nouveaux employés.VoyagesCourtes pauses, pression continue des superviseurs."

Anonymous (Former Employee) says

"This job was like an abusive ex. They put you down and make you feel worthless and you don’t even know it until you look around and see what else is out there. Salary is so low compared to anywhere else (in the same category), the amount of work and stress they put you through vs salary and bonus is pure slavery. But they brainwash you to think that its normal and that the benefits they give you make up for it. But they don’t"

Marketing (Former Employee) says

"Pro: Gained worked experience, met some great people, some good deals if able to utilize them Cons: Little to no growth opportunities, no recognition, no encouragement, company does not adapt, does not nurture talent or inspire loyalty, low salary, lots of office politics (backstabbing, lies, bias etc), overworked and worked additional hours without any recognition or pay, human resources slow to respond and are unhelpful - you need to followup at least three to four times before someone brushes you off even further, management often do not know the systems they are using, many managers are clearly not qualified for their positions, many policies lack thought and action, etcDiscounts on travelLow salary"

Agent Groupe (Former Employee) says

Head office employee (Former Employee) says

"Although not all days were bad - it is vital for you to get involved in the political environment and animosity that exists in this environment if you want to succeed. I was not interested in getting involved, and thus, I parted ways. If you are a smart person with some self respect, you will not demean yourself to work for a corporation like this. It may seem nice to get a free trip once a year (to an awful hotel, may I add), but I would rather get paid more anywhere else than receive a free vacation....great deals on vacationstoo many office politics and backstabbing - no one is safe here..."

General Labourer (Current Employee) says

"The company is trying to re-invent itself. However, there is a culture clash between the old ways and the new vision. As long as there is resistance, it will be difficult for this company to move forwardStandby travel passesGym membership subsidy, vacation allowance, job advancement"
